Health Innovation Exchange (HIEX) in partnership with The University at Albany (UAlbany) have established the Global Center for AI in Mental Health. The Center will employ artificial intelligence (AI) and deep tech innovations to identify social determinants of health and related risk factors and elucidate biological mechanisms of action for mental health disorders, differences across the life course and develop strategies to deploy it in nations in Africa and Asia.

The Center will undertake a multipronged approach to mitigate suffering due to mental health disorders, ranging from public and patient education to interdisciplinary approaches to address five research and intervention themes: Education and Outreach, Identifying Risk Factors and Opportunities for Prevention and Care, Intervention and Treatments, Long-Term Post-Treatment Monitoring, and Deployment.

The center will leverage UAlbany’s collaborations with mental health professionals at the New York State Department of Health in Albany and clinical research and expertise at the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. The center will encourage and seek collaborations with mental health experts, community organizations, and stakeholders worldwide.
